Tripleopolis is a match-3 puzzle game with a twist: every match you make helps build and expand your city.
It’s a blend of addictive puzzles and strategic city-building, wrapped in a game that’s easy to pick up but hard to put down.
Welcome to your new favorite match-3 game.
I hate ads… and I’m guessing you do too.
If you want to play the game for free, you can make up to 100 moves a day. No catch, no adverts.
If you want to support the game (and get unlimited moves), you can unlock the full game with a small in-app purchase.
Tripleopolis isn’t just some rushed-out-the-door, flash-in-the-pan game. I’m not churning out hackathons projects like games studios.
I’m a one-person team, designing, tweaking, and fine-tuning things until they play the way they should.
No huge advertising budget, no bloated game engine, just me, my Mac, and a lot of caffeine, making sure every part of this game feels just right.
Nope, I wanted Tripleopolis to look and feel different.
Most games are built on the same handful of engines with an ad-management system bolted on—which is why they all feel so similar, with spammy ads.
Tripleopolis is handcoded and designed with care.
Tripleopolis isn’t just another match-3 game, it’s carefully crafted to bring together the best of puzzle gaming with a fresh twist of city-building strategy.
Every match you make shapes your city, adding a layer of strategy and creativity that sets it apart from the rest.
I’ve always loved puzzle and strategy games (who doesn’t?), and there were several elements from different classics that I thought would work well together.
I added a few twists and focused the game on players who prefer sinking their teeth into longer puzzle sessions.
Yes! 100%.
There are plenty of ways to earn free coin bags and chests in the game, but you’ll have to figure out how.
If you feel like taking a shortcut, you can buy coins too (hey, I need to make money somehow, right?).
Yeah, technically, I guess. I’m a designer and developer who’s had a game idea rattling around in my head for years. Finally decided to do something about it.
As you match tiles, they level up—grass becomes trees, trees become houses, houses become manors, and so on.
If you’re lucky, you’ll encounter special tiles along the way. You can even earn coins to buy specific items too.
Triple = match-3, opolis = city building. Simple really, but not exactly catchy, I admit.
Tripleopolis was a temporary name that it’s now too late to change… but hey, it’s grown on me. Never mind!
As a designer and developer, I wanted to create a game true to my vision. But, yeah, I used AI a little… mostly for some of the more nuanced game functions and to argue with about design choices.
Sonauto to create the sounttrack and SFX.
ChatGPT and Claude for some of the game logic and help with the overall wording.
Midjourney to explore potential styles and approaches.
Ever started on an idea and realised it would take a lot longer than you thought?... welcome to Tripleopolis!
Tripleopolis is a game I've had in mind for years. Partly a side-project, partly an experiment to test the capabilities of AI, and partly a way to avoid doing actual work.
Besides this I'm a designer & developer at Peter Hinton Design (yes, I put a lot of thought into my company name). I also create free gamified trails on Huntee.
