Automating Social Media: Building a Tripleopolis Bot
Dec 09, 2024
Over the weekend, I tackled an experiment that’s been on my mind for a while—building my first social media bot. With the help of Claude AI, I’ve created a system that allows me to automate one of my least favorite tasks: maintaining a social media presence.
Like many, I’m not a fan of bots on platforms like X, especially those designed to impersonate real users. But this approach is different—it’s entirely focused on efficiency and transparency, with no pretense of being human.
Why Automate?
I’ll admit it: I don’t enjoy social media. However, having an active presence is crucial for my projects; Tripleopolis, Huntee, and Peter Hinton Design. These platforms allow me to share updates, connect with users, and promote my work, but I don’t have the time or passion to manage them daily.
This bot bridges the gap. It posts regular updates about Tripleopolis, using a pre-prepared library of images, videos, and structured prompts. The goal is simple: consistent, high-quality updates without the manual effort.
The Technical Setup
The bot is built using Python and runs on a VPS. Claude AI assists with generating content, helping maintain a tone and structure that aligns with my projects.
While the system isn’t overly complex, it’s designed to be reliable and easy to tweak as needs evolve.
What’s Next?
This is an early prototype, and there’s plenty of room to improve. Some of the areas I’m focusing on include:
- -Monitoring and refining the bot’s behavior based on engagement metrics.
- -Expanding functionality to post on other platforms like Instagram and LinkedIn.
- -Developing self-analysis features to track hashtags, post performance, and audience trends.
For now, the bot is live and serving its purpose, which feels like a small victory. If you’re curious about how it all works or thinking about building something similar, feel free to get in touch.
